Day 61: The Kid's birthday
May. 15th, 2020 10:31 pmThe Kid is 30 tears old today. Boy does that make me feel old. Especially since she really was just a kid when I started keeping this journal, and did't want to use her name.
Anyway, I started out the day with breakfast and coffee, and finding out that the copy of Penric's Travels that I ordered for Oldest Brother's birthday got here. So I have that put away safely.
Then I Skyped the FWiB. That was nice as always. After we got off, I puttered around on-line til the YA Afternoon tea, when I spoke about the Kieth Olbermann reading of Thurber.
After that I took a video of myself recommending the Last Unicorn (by Peter S Beagle) and submitted it to the 125th anniversary project of the library. Then i relaxed til 4:30.
At 4:30 I started getting ready for the Zoom meet I had set up for the Kid's birthday. At 4:45 she called me and said she was going to be late! I was peeved, but didn't say anything, it was, after all, her birthday. So at 5:00 I started the meeting. It was small, just Aunt Helen, John, Denise and Brianne on one computer, and
mashfanficchick, and Dani and her family on another. We talked until the Kid finally arrived, and then we sang Happy Birthday, and talked some more, and a good time was had by all.
After the others got off, I stayed on awhile with the Kid and we talked about stuff and she showed me some things she'd been buying and I promised her money for her birthday. Which I sent to her after we got off.
Then I ordered dinner from Seamless, betting, correctly that it would be delivered early enough to eat before my Al-anon meeting. So I got that and ate, and then we had some initial confusion about setting up the meeting, but we finally had a Zoom meeting. That was good, and then we had the second meeting by Duo.
So we got both meetings in, and two different people.
And after that I relaxed again until Oldest Brother called. He's doing well, thank goodness.
And we'll see if entries are crossposting yet. Doing it by hand is getting really old.
Gratitude List:
1. The FWiB.
2. The Kid, 30 years of love.
3. MY family.
4. Weekend.
5. Friends.
6. My meetings and the people there.
