In our library system, a page is a student, high school or college, who mostly shelves returned books. So not really what you'd call a library assistant. I think our information assistants come closer to that. An information assistant has a college degree but not a library science masters degree, which you need to be a librarian. Nowadays the duties are pretty much the same, but when I started my career that wasn't the case.
