Did nothing today

I meant to go to the Starsky and Hutch creative work session, but I ended up forgetting all about it.

I slept very late, then got up and had breakfast and coffee and Skyped the FWiB.

After that I puttered online, looked up some information about the Public Storage unit and called the Kid. Spoke to her for a bit. Then I did a Shipt order, but I forgot cat food, which I'm almost out of, so I either have to do another tomorrow or get cat food some other way.

I looked into starting a Neocities page to replace my long gone but still lamented Geocities page. I was hoping it would be as easy as Geocities was, but it's not. Still, I may be able to do something. Watch this space!

I had a glass of the wine that had originally been meant for the concert Thursday and ate the cherries that I got that day too.

I called Oldest Brother three times as usual, and I called Middle Brother. Middle brother went swimming yesterday and had pizza. so he's happy.

That was really all I did all day. Tomorrow I really need to do something of some sort.

Gosh, Geocities -- that takes me back! My first Watership Down fan site, more than 20 years ago now, was on Geocities. I think, anyway.

My Geocities page was my personal fanfiction page. Mostly Starsky and Hutch, but also the one other fanfiction I had written at the time, a Star Trek:TOS crossover with Danger:UXB, which was a very old British series about bomb defusers during WW2. Since Geocities closed, I've written a small amount in other fandoms, but almost everything is Starsky and Hutch. I miss having my own page just for the fun of it. even though I have all my stuff on AO3 and fanfiction.net both. It's not the same, *sigh*

Hope this entry isn't from too far back, couldn't help but notice the site mention. There's a lot of different site builders out there depending on which service you pick, so even if Neocities isn't a good match for you something else might be! Not sure if you're looking for a free or paid service, your options will of course look very different depending.
While I don't technically know how to code, I'm not a stranger to copypasting code from those that do know it and still end up with something halfway functional. Which is to say, I'm too much into customizing things to my specifications to know much about site builders. I just know every service I came across while I was looking for a new service provider for my site earlier this year had a site builder option. They're definitely out there!

Not at all, I appreciate the fact you read a bit in my journal.

Yeah, I only tried Neocities because, from the name, I thought it might be more like the old Geocities, which provided templates for different pages. With my Geocities site, I picked a template and just did a lot of html editing and had a pretty nice looking site with minimal effort. In the years since Geocities closed I've forgotten most of the html I taught myself then, and Neocities seems more like you have to build your page from scratch.

Off the top of my head I could mention Wordpress as one that offers something like that functionality. Tons of templates from what I understand, since it's so popular, and while it's technically a blogging platform it does allow for static pages too. Although it does cost a little bit - Wordpress hosting is typically like 1-2€ a month from what I saw, URL not included. Of free site builder services there's Carrd of course, but that might be too simplified - I'm not sure if it allows custom html at all other than as text flavoring, much like DW entries. Everything else is chosen through various site template options and color pickers. People typically build profiles on that site that you can just link to and not bother making one for every social media platform.
Like I said, there's a ton of options out there! You should definitely look into it if you're interested in building a site, there's bound to be something suitable.

I'm not interested in paying for a site, but there are plenty of free sites I know. I'll see about Neocities, and when I have a chance look into others. I hadn't heard of Carrd, I'll look into it, thanks.
