Went to see Aunt Helen today
Mar. 8th, 2015 11:24 pmHad a real time getting there. The idea was I would take the LIRR to the Baldwin station and Oldest Brother would pick me up there. So I took the bus to Murry Hill and got my ticket from the ticket machine since of course the ticket office as closed Sunday. The ticket said Murry Hill to Baldwin via Woodside. OK, cool. I took the train to Woodside, one stop, and got off to wait for the Babylon Line train to Baldwin. And I waited, and waited and waited. And then a Babylon train went by on the express track without stopping, and I got worried, so I went and looked at a schedule. There was supposed to be a train at 1:03 so I waited until that train showed up on the upcoming arrivals and departures board, and it said the 1:03 was a Huntington train, not a Babylon train. So that's when I really got worried and I looked up the number for information on my phone and called. Didn't get a real human of course but I was able to ascertain that there were no Babylon trains from Woodside, I was supposed to go to Jamaica and transfer there. So that's what I did, and I finally got to Baldwin, but I was really pissed because NOWHERE on that ticket did it indicate that I had to transfer twice, at both Woodside and Jamaica.
Anyway we finally got there and saw Aunt Helen, who is looking pretty good all things considered. She's talking pretty well and her hearing has improved. So we stayed a couple of hours, and then Oldest Brother drove me home, with a stop for food at Five Guys. He went on to his job in Fresh Meadows and I fed the snake.
I also watched an episode of Firefly, because I had been thinking of it and wanted to see it again, and I have netflix so why not? It was just as good as I remembered, too.
And that was my day.
Gratitude List:
1. Aunt Helen doing well.
2. I finally got there.
3. Oldest Brother.
4. Good TV.
5. The FWiB.
6. Happy snake.
