Aunt Helen's Party
Feb. 23rd, 2019 11:40 pmwas lovely.
I got up at 9:00 to call in sick, which I hate doing, but there really was no option. Then I e-mailed the FWiB and asked if he wanted to Skype. We got in about an hour of conversation before we both had to get off, me because it was time to get ready. So I showered and was drying off when I got a call from the Kid. She wanted to know if i thought the SIL should come, because he has a cold. Ultimately it was decided that he could, but he should leave space between himself and Aunt Helen.
So I made my way to
mashfanficchick's mother's house, which is where the Kid has her car parked, and met the Kid and SIL. And we went to Aunt Helen's party.
Oldest Brother and Middle Brother were already there, as of course were John and Denise and Brianne. And Betsy, who was in town of a few days. And then Mrs. Johnson and Sandy came, Debbie's mother and sister, therefore Brianne's other grandmother and aunt. Hadn't seen them in years! We sat around and talked, and ate, and had some wine, and finally dinner and then cake and ice cream. And Aunt Helen was wearing the sweatshirt I got her for Christmas! I'm glad it fits.
Then she opened her presents, and Laurie facetimed from Georgia. So we talked to her, which was nice, but by then things were starting to wind down, and eventually John and Denise volunteered to take Middle Brother back to his group home, while Oldest Brother napped, and the Kid and SIL and I left.
Took the car back and parked it, and then we took the E train together until I got off at Roosevelt to get the 7, and they went on to Astoria.
And I got home and all is well, and I heard from Oldest Brother that he got home, and Middle Brother got home, and John and Denise did too, and the Kid and SIL were back in Astoria getting something to eat before going home (though how they could eat anything after the lasagna, I do not know. Oh well.)
And now I'm going to to to bed and read for awhile I think.
