Not a great day
Aug. 23rd, 2020 10:10 pmStarted out with facebook messages from Betsy. She and Piet apparently spent the last couple of weeks redoing the cottage kitchen without telling me first. They took out the cabinets, which needed it, admittedly, they were awful, and the counters and did all new stuff. I don't mind so much that she did it all, yes, we had talked about getting new cabinets, but she should have told me first, damn it.
Anyway, I forwarded her messages to the Kid, and she called me for a brief while. Then I came out to the living room and had breakfast and turned on the digital picture frame, and it didn't work. It turned on but instead of pictures I got some screen I didn't know. I did what I've done when the pictures froze into a loop, I fiddled pushing the buttons on the remote, and eventually it worked.
Then I had coffee, and Skyped the FWiB. After we'd been talking about a half hour, my computer locked up and shut down. I restarted it and got a message that it had over-heated. So now I have THAT to worry about. We finished our call, and then I turned off the computer to let it cool, and went to the bedroom and fell asleep.
Then I got up after a couple of hours, and came back out. The computer has been working normally except for one weird thing. I started going through the 2006 vacation folder, and some of the thumbnails, when I rename the pictures, turn into thumbnails of other pictures. The actual pictures, when I click on them, are the same. Go figure.
Anyway, I gave up on that, and ordered dinner from Seamless. I had a $10 off $15 or more, and that worked fine, so I was happy about that.
The Kid called again just when I was finishing up, and we talked a bit again. Then I reread more of Peace Talks.
Something I didn't mention yesterday that I should have. I got another notice from the state that the management company is asking for ANOTHER rent increase based on work they did, this time on the water and gas lines. All in all, my rent will go up about $200 a month if they go through. I am very worried.
Anyway, aside from calling Oldest Brother, and feeding the pets, that's pretty much the day. Like I said, not a great one, especially since I have to go back to work tomorrow, which I'm also not looking forward to.
Gratitude List:
1. The FWiB.
2. The picture frame is working now.
3. The computer came back on.
4. Good books.
5. Good food.
6. My pets.
