Got my taxes done
May. 1st, 2021 10:07 pmGot up a bit after 9:00 and had breakfast and coffee. Then I showered and dressed and called Oldest Brother. By 11:00 I was on my way to College Point to the tax preparer.
He took me almost immediately, I only had to wait outside a bit for the previous customer. I had the proper paperwork so it only took a little while. And I got a nice refund, though not as nice as last year.
After that I walked down to Supremes and got a Godfather hero and a can of Arizona, and then walked to the big park. It was beautiful, just starting to get green. I sat under a tree, and ate my lunch.
Then I walked around the park a little. For the first time I made it to the 9/11 Memorial Grove while the trees were in blossom, most of them anyway. And it was beautiful. I didn't stay too long though because it was a bit chilly and windy.
I took the 25 bus back, and that made me realize just how easy it would be to take the 25 any time I wanted to go to the park. It isn't even that long a ride. I always knew this, I just never really appreciated it. Now that I do, I'll be going to the park more often. I miss it.
I got home and my new sneakers were not here. I had gotten a message from Fed Ex that they would be delivered by 12:40. I checked online, and it said they had been delivered and left at my door.
I was pretty annoyed, but lacking anything to do about it, I Skyped the FWiB and we had a nice time. After we talked, I called the Kid, thinking she might have a suggestion about what to do about my sneakers. But while we were talking, I checked my door one last time... and there they were!
I figure that the Fed Ex guy must have left them at the wrong door, and the people from wherever he left them brought them down and didn't bother knocking or anything. But whatever, I have my sneakers, they fit and are wonderfully comfortable, and look pretty good. Good enough that I may wear them to work.
So after that I puttered around and dozed for a bit. Charged my Nook. Played solitaire, puttered on-line. I called
mashfanficchick and suggested we go out to the park with Dori tomorrow, and we may.
Then I watched an episode of The Expanse, and by the time that was over it was 8:30. I went to the bedroom and read till it was time to call Oldest Brother.
Then I read till it was time to feed the pets, and here I am.
Gratitude List:
1. The FWiB.
2. My sneakers weren't stolen.
3. Flowering trees.
4. The big park.
5. Friends.
6. Buses.
