Didn't post yesterday
May. 16th, 2021 10:24 pmBecause I was at the Schieffers. So here's how it all panned ut.
My boss let me go at 2:00, but then I missed a train in Penn Station so I still didn't manage to get there until somewhat after 5. But that was fine, Steve and Amy had been held up by bad traffic so they only got there about half an hour earlier. Betsy was also there, which I didn't expect, and we had a really nice time sitting around and talking. I also had a chance to talk to Betsy about the cottage. Laurie is going to take over running the cottage accounts, not Betsy, so I'm happy about that.
We had a cookout for dinner and I had the leftover bottle of Moscato from Mother's Day. It was the Kid's birthday, and she had friends over which is why she didn't come with me, so I called her and we all sang Happy Birthday to her.
That night Steve and Amy stayed in a motel so there was more room for me and I slept on the couch (with Charlie the cat) instead of Aunt Helen's recliner. They planned to go into Manhattan to see Kevin this morning, so we said good bye last night. Got up this morning and Betsy made breakfast and that's when we talked about the cottage.
Hung out there for a good bit of time. Helped Betsy and John go through some boxes of Aunt Helen's stuff. I found that Aunt Helen had the painting The Lonely Gnome by great-aunt Alice, which Mom had had, I guess we gave it to her. But they let me take it so I have that now. Also an Aubery Beardsly print which Mom had given Aunt Helen. They didn't want it because there was a slight bid of discoloring on it from mold. Which is a pity but doesn't really spoil the whole thing. So I have that too. It's The Masque of the Red Death.
Had the leftovers from dinner for lunch, and then John drove me to the train station. I took the LIRR to Jamaica and the Q44 bus home.
Came home and called Oldest Brother, and then Skyped the FWiB. The FWiB had e-mail trouble all during the evening before and that morning, but he got it straightened out finally. We had a good time talking, and I took some time out to call Middle Brother.
Haven't had anything for dinner because I'm still full from lunch. I may just have a glass of chocolate milk for dinner.
Called Oldest Brother again, and then the Kid. Then read in next Invisible Library book, the dark Archive until it was time to feed the pets and write in here.
A very good weekend all in all.
