My struggles with Medicaid
Nov. 17th, 2022 10:40 pmGot to work on time despite heavy traffic. I worked as best I could considering how wrought up I was until lunch time. Then I tried calling Medicaid.
There were three numbers on the letter. One, the unit number, was out of service. One, the number for either a fair hearing or a general conference, went to a voicemail box that was full and not accepting any messages. The other, the general help number, told me to hold. I held for two hours. All my lunch and an hour afterward where I worked literally typing on the computer with one hand while I held the phone to my ear with the other. Finally I gave up and hung up. Then I googled and got two other numbers for help with Medicaid.
So during my break I called one, and got through to a human. I had to put Oldest Brother on conference call so he could give permission for me to talk about his case. She says he's been approved for Medicaid for another year and I should disregard the letter, and talk to the nursing home Medicaid person. I don't know if I believe her, but I will attempt to talk to the Medicaid person at the nursing home tomorrow. I did call the social worker back and got her voice mail which was full and not accepting any messages, so maybe she's on vacation. I also left a message on their "contact us" message thing on their web page, which I have gotten a response from in the past so I know they actually do check it.
So that's where things stand. I came home and called Oldest Brother again, then I Skyped the FWiB. Got off in time to call Middle Brother.
Then I had dinner and called Oldest Brother again, and finally the Kid.
Then I played solitaire till pet feeding time. The turtle is still not eating. But she acts so lively, I can't believe there's anything wrong, except... she doesn't eat.
Tomorrow more calls. The nursing home, and Middle Brother's group home, and a diner to make reservations.
I f-ing hate all this. Why can't things be easy for me?
Gratitude List:
1. The FWiB went to his oncologist today and is still fine.
2. Middle Brother is good.
3. The Kid is OK.
4. I spoke to a human being.
5. My cell phone, what would I do without it.
6. Bed soon.
