And what do I make of this day?
Apr. 21st, 2023 10:30 pmI got up earlier than I planned, and had breakfast and coffee, then showered, washed my hair and dressed.
I went to the drugstore to get a prescription filled, I had to wait for it, but no problem.
Came home and put in a Shipt order. I watched the Tuesday episode of Lonestar, which I enjoyed quite a bit.
The Shipt order came, I put it away, put water in the turtle tank, made a cup of coffee.
Middle Brother called, I was right their phone was out of order yesterday, so he wasn't upset that I hadn't called, but of course he wanted to call me. All is well.
Then I went to go and meet the Kid and her new boyfriend at Akiyama. I took the 20 bus but got the a rather than the b, and then got off at the wrong stop so I had rather a long walk, but that's OK. I got there early anyway. The parrot nest is still there, and I saw some parrots, the first I've seen in a long time, so that was nice.
The boyfriend is very sweet, I like him. Akiyama is just as good as always. I had two glasses of plum wine, I usually stick with one, but I felt like indulging. And I had green tea ice cream for dessert.
We had a very nice time, then I took the bus home and called Oldest Brother for the second time. Then Skyped the FWiB. After we finished I went and picked up my laundry at the laundromat. I called Oldest Brother for the third time. Then the Kid texted, and that was nice.
So what was it about the day? This. At 2:40 I got a text from Laurie. She wanted to give me a heads up that she was emailing me an article from an Atlanta newspaper. Turns out Anthony Zino's death was not from natural causes, although he was 71. His cellmate murdered him, I don't know how, as a "mercy killing" and then managed to hide the body for FIVE DAYS!!!! By which time it was very decomposed. It's like something out of a suspense novel... how could he not be discovered for five days? The article also went into detail about the murders of my cousins and somewhat about the aftermath of his life in prison.
If anyone wants to read the article, it's here but it's not pretty.
Anyway. Again I am left not knowing how to process this stuff. I don't know what to think. I won't say it spoiled the day, because it didn't, I managed to put it out of my mind pretty much while I was with the Kid, though I did tell her briefly while the boyfriend was washing up. But it's pretty weird thinking of it now.
That's all.
Gratitude List:
1. The FWiB.
2. The Kid.
3. Wild parrots.
4. The new boy seems nice.
5. Family.
6. Sushi.
