Good and bad news
Oct. 19th, 2023 10:32 pmI made it to work on time, so that's good. Then at lunch I got a phone call from the hematologist/oncologist that Oldest Brother had been taken to see. No one bothered to inform her that he had been hospitalized and couldn't make his appointment today. But she called the nursing home and they told her, so she called me to talk about what she had been going to tell them. Which is that he has Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia.
So that sounds bad, but isn't as bad as it sounds, he's stage zero, and she doesn't want to do more than monitor it at this point. Apparently you can live for years with it and nothing much happens.
So that's the bad news. The good news is that when I went to see him tonight, he was better even then yesterday. Still seemed rather drowsy, and still not verbally up to where he was before the UTI, but better. He's been taken off the heart monitor, and moved to a different room because of that.
I called the case manager to give the doctor that information and she said she'd have him call me but he hasn't. I also called the hospital social worker to talk to her about getting him transferred to a new nursing home. Got voice mail, and left my name and number. I called the Kid, and told her.
So that's the news about Oldest Brother. In other news, I did a program today, but there were practically no teens in the branch. I got two teens and three children. It was decorate a paper pumpkin and everyone who did it enjoyed it so I'm happy about that.
I Uberd to and from the hospital again. When I got home I made dinner and then called Middle Brother. He's fine, went out shopping for fall clothes, and went out to 7-11. And he's looking forward to Halloween.
Then I Skyped the FWiB. While we were talking, the kid called me back (I had called her) and we said good-bye and I talked to the Kid. I am going to see her tomorrow.
And that's about it.
Gratitude List:
1. The FWiB.
2. Oldest Brother is better.
3. The kid.
4. My program was fun.
5. Free day tomorrow.
6. Bed soon.
