Contretemps with the boss
Nov. 21st, 2023 10:26 pmGot to work close enough to on time to sign in on time, despite bad traffic.
Was met by Mr. T who told me that the adult librarian had called in sick and couldn't go read with him at the nursing home, and could I instead? I said yes, and we left at about 10:30. Got back about 11:30, and started thinking on my new display on the Best Books for Teens.
Then I get a decidedly unfriendly email from my boss about not having the list (which wasn't supposed to go live until today) in my area yet. Although I was supposed to be on the desk at 12:00 I went to start making the display.
I ran into her on my way out and said something to her, I don't even remember what but she didn't like it and had me come into her office. I told her how I was feeling, she was completely unempathetic, and the whole thing was less than successful. Still I actually feel better getting it off my chest.
I put up the display and I think it's pretty good, She has said nothing.
Anyway, aside from that, I went out at lunch and bought a bottle of wine, a rose Moscato, to bring up to Vermont, and half and half for work for my coffee.
I did the Teen Lounge and got 6, which is OK.
Came home after work, the wait for the bus was much longer than it should have been, I don't know what was going on. But I finally got home and called Oldest Brother for the second time. Then we spent a long time trying to figure out something he was trying to tell me. Eventually we got it, and I got off and had some time to Skype the FWiB before my meeting.
The meeting was very good, and well attended. Then I had dinner, and called Oldest Brother again.
When I got off the phone, the Kid had texted, so I called her and we talked for awhile. She is going to make a pumpkin pie from a whole pumpkin for the pie-making contest.
While we talked I started packing for the trip since I won't have much time either tomorrow or Thanksgiving. I think I have everything i need except stuff that has ti be packed that day.
Then I Skyped the FWiB again, and that was nice.
And then it was pet feeding time, and writing here.
Gratitude List:
1. The FWiB.
2. My meetings and the people at them.
3. Figured out what Oldest Brother was trying to say.'
4. Got my packing done.
5. Almost Thanksgiving.
6. The Kid.
