I did it, I got up at 4:30 (well, actually 4:40) and made it to the bus on time for the trip to Albany. It's about a three hour drive, and I dozed for the last hour, so I didn't feel too tired.

They gave us all very nice official tee shirts, in a lovely wine color, and a tote bag with the folder of info and a bottle of water (which I haven't drunk yet) and a name tag.

We broke into our groups when we got there, and set off to our various legislators. We saw five, I think, though for two of them we saw staff members rather than the legislator themself. Everyone was very friendly and supportive. So we are hopeful. This was Library Lobby Day for the whole state, so there were groups from all over the state, including our fellow city systems.

After our fifth visit (which was to quite a VIP, the Chair of the Libraries Committee, Senator Chu) there was plenty of time before the bus left to return at 3. So we split up and I went and got lunch.

The kid texted me and we had a nice text conversation during that time, too.

NYLA (The New York Library Association) was giving out the most adorable blue piggy banks, so I have one of those.

At 3:00 we met at the bus and came back. We got to the city by 6:00. I called [personal profile] mashfanficchick and we arranged I would go to zer stop on the F train instead of mine on the 7 and we'd meet there. Which we did, I stood most of the day, ugh,

I met zer and zer mother outside Starbucks. Then we went to Target, and Stop and Shop, and then Carvel.

Then we went to Shop Rite, and then they bought me home. I Skyped the FWiB for a short while.

Now it's past time for bed!

Gratitude List:

1. The FWiB.

2. The Kid.

3. My friends.

4. Carvel.

5. Blue piggy bank from NYLA.

6. Lobby Day went very well.
