Complicated bad morning
Feb. 15th, 2024 10:25 pmI was waiting this morning for a call from Flushing hospital to give permission for Oldest Brother to have his procedure today to determine what's going on with his gallbladder and the tube. I was expecting to be called around 8. I wasn't. Finally I got up and started getting ready for work, knowing I was going to be late.
Finally the phone rang, the hospital... looking for him. Freak me out. I have to assume that the transportation was late. I finally got ready for work, and went to my bus stop. And there was a huge truck broken down in the intersection, completely blocking it. I knew it wasn't going to get cleared quickly, and there was no way the bus could get through, so I walked to the previous stop. I missed a bus during this.
Got to the other stop, waited for the bus. Got on. My phone rang, it was the hospital, this time wanting the permission. Of course I gave it.
Found out I had forgotten that the children's librarian and I were supposed to go to a preschool today. She had to cancel. I feel awful about that.
Got to work. I was 35 minutes late. At 11 I went to the YA Chat. My phone rang. It was the hospital. Oldest Brother has a gall stone in his duct. It needs to be removed. After I got off I realized I didn't know if the "it" referred to the stone or the whole gallbladder. I assume I'll find out when the nursing home contacts me about scheduling it.
The rest of the day actually was pretty good. I did a program at 3:30, ceramic piggy banks and Posca markers. I got five teens, one adult, and two children. It was fun
Came home and Skyped the FWiB. Called Middle Brother. He's fine, one of the staff took him to church on Ash Wednesday, which he enjoyed. I was rather startled that they did that, but it's OK, we were all raised Methodist, baptized and confirmed, and Middle Brother always enjoyed church, though I don't know how much he understands. We never did Ash Wednesday in our church though, so that would have been new for him.
Then I had dinner, and then started my packing for next week. I got all my clothes in my duffle bag, so all I have to pack are things that have to wait until just before I go.
Then I puttered on my phone til pet feeding time, and here I am.
Gratitude List:
1. The FWiB.
2. Good turnout for my program.
3. My pets.
4. Oldest Brother getting care.
5. Middle brother had fun.
6. Bed soon.
