Saw Oldest Brother today
Jun. 1st, 2024 10:13 pmStarted the day by being late to my Al-anon meeting in Bowne Park. Partly the Uber driver's fault, but mostly my own. I got up late and although I rushed to get ready, I was not able to get out on time. Then the Uber driver took a long time to get to me, making some really weird turns which I watched on the app as he came to me.
But the meeting was good, and I got a ride to the diner afterward. I had a bagel with lox and cream cheese and iced coffee.
mashfanficchick's mother picked me up at the diner and took me to the nursing home.
Oldest Brother was much better! He seemed aware and more alert though still drowsy. He was able to respond to me, sometimes with words "yes" or "yeah" or "ok", and sometimes with expressions or a thumbs up gesture. So that was good to see. After i saw him I managed to speak to the nurse supervisor about having him see a urologist about getting the Foley catheter taken out, since that's what seems to be causing him to get UTIs which then lead to him being hospitalized with sepsis and pneumonia. Also, the doctor from the hospital had called me that morning about having him seen by an oncologist/hematologist. So I told the nuring supervisor that too and gave her the name and number of the one he'd seen before.
After that,
mashfanficchick's mother brought me home and I went to the Starsky and Hutch episode watch and chat. Of curse the episode was long over but I hung out and chatted for several hours.
Then I Skyped the FWiB for about an hour and a half. After that I had my left over sundae from Wednesday for dinner, and went to the bedroom til pet feeding time. I played solitaire and started reading The Beginning Place by Ursula Le Guin.
No plans for tomorrow, I'll just have to see what happens.
Gratitude List:
1. The FWiB.
2. My meetings and the people there.
3. Oldest Brother doing well.
4. My friends.
5. Good books.
6. Ice cream.
