Busy day with ups and downs
Oct. 17th, 2024 01:18 amI actually got up before 10 this morning. I ate breakfast. showered and dressed, and went to see Oldest Brother.
He was asleep when I got there, but woke up aware and pleased to see me. I stayed for an hour and we had a nice visit.
I got home around 2. A book I ordered from Thriftbooks had arrived, which is nice. It's short stories from The Detection Club, including one by Dorothy Sayers i don't think I've read.
At 3 I went down to the post office by bus to pick up the certified letter that I got the notice about the other day. It was nothing important. Why it was sent certified I do not know.
When I got home, I took out a bag of recycling and walked around the block.
Then I got my backpack together to bring to the baseball game tonight. I puttered around online, edited what I have written in the Spooktober story, and watched the Starsky and Hutch Baaaad Theater video that's posted on the archive, which is hilarious.
By then it was time to go to the game so I took the bus to Flushing and the 7 train to the stadium.
I had a little bit of trouble finding our seats but I finally asked someone and got directed. I met up with
mashfanficchick there. I got something to eat, a hot pastrami sandwich, and we watched the game to the bitter end. Sadly, we lost 8 to 0. *sigh* But I had a lot of fun anyway.
While we were at the game, Lynn posted on Facebook. He has decided to not have chemotherapy, and just have palliative care. I understand, it would only extend his life a few months anyway, but I am grieving.
Came home by train and bus, all was well when I got here. Fed the pets, and here I am.
Gratitude List:
1. The FWiB. (didn't get to Skype, but we emailed as always.)
2. Oldest Brother well.
3. Certified letter wasn't anything bad.
4. That I had the pleasure of knowing Lynn as long as I have, even though we weren't as close as we could have been.
5. Got to the baseball game.
