Some good news for a change
Dec. 6th, 2024 10:55 pmGot up at 10 this morning again, and had breakfast and coffee. Then had a session with my therapist, which went fine.
Then I puttered around until 2:30, actually accomplishing some stuff. Mainly I scheduled my next blood tests, for the 13th. I also looked into scheduling my second shingles shot but I wanted to do it Monday and the website would only show me times for today, so I decided to just look on Monday.
I also logged into my insurance website to try and find a provider to do my cataract surgery. I eventually gave up on their website, and tried the website of the medical company they use, and I think I have a line on some place. I'll check it out after the New Year though.
Anyway, that sort of thing pretty much took up the time til 2:30 when I went to take a shower. The phone rang just as I was getting ready, and it was the doctor from the hospital. She says that Oldest Brother is done with the antibiotics, but still on the antivirals, his shingles is pretty much scabbed over and he'll probably be discharged tomorrow. I asked her a few questions about various things, and thanked her.
Then I showered, dressed, and at 3:30 I took an Uber over to the hospital. Oldest Brother was maybe a little better than the last few days. I stayed for an hour, then took the 65 bus to Flushing and the 50 from there to my Al-anon meeting.
I had pizza first for dinner, then went to the meeting. It was good, and I got a ride to the bus stop from K.
It was quite cold out, but I didn't have to wait long and the bus was nice and warm. Got home and Skyped the FWiB for almo0st an hour, then fed the pets, made a cup of decaf, and started here.
So I'm not going to the hospital tomorrow, since he'll be discharged and transported back to the nursing home some time after 3.
Gratitude List:
1. The FWiB.
2. Oldest Brother being discharged.
3. My meetings and the people there.
4. The doctor called and answered some of my questions.
5. The Kid texted me pictures of some nice old books she bought.
6. My therapist.
