Pride Parade!
Jun. 1st, 2025 10:06 pmI woke up at 5:00 this morning and couldn't get back to sleep til 7:30 when I got up and ate breakfast, and went back to bed. I slept til my alarm when off at 9:00, then I turned it off and went to sleep for another 40 minutes. Which made me really late for starting my day.
I had coffee, and then showered and dressed, and brought the small load of laundry that I got together yesterday down to the laundromat. It was small enough for me to carry without using the cart, so I left directly from there for the Queens Pride Parade and festival.
The location I had was for the staging of the parade, and the Google map directions took me to 90th street on the 7. I got off the subway and spent more time than I should have looking for 90th street, I am ashamed to say. I found it eventually and walked up it to 37th Ave. and 89th Street where the parade was already in motion.
I headed toward the end, and outpaced it so by the time I got to the festival at 75th Street I was at what I think was the beginning of the parade, so I found a spot and watched it all. It is not as flamboyant and exhibitionist as NY Pride, never-the-less, I was surprised and charmed when one of the groups marching was a Girl Scout troop.
Saw Larry when he got there with CUNY, which was nice. Texted with
mashfanficchick and with the Kid.
After the end of the parade, I went to the festival. Lots of food, and various displays of organizations. Also things for sale of course. And music.
I had one of those Japanese snacks of fruit on a stick encased in candy glaze, three large, yummy, strawberries. And I had a MozzAreppa. And was given a can of raspberry Peace Tea.
Then I had seen everything, including running into Larry again, and I checked Google maps to find the fastest way to the subway and found that the festival was only a few blocks from the 74th street station. So I could have saved myself a lot of walking by getting off there instead of 90th street, but oh well. It's steps for my Fitbit.
Anyway, I came home, and was pretty achy by then so all I did was sit down and putter online. At 7:00 I Teamed the FWiB, and at 8:30 I called Middle Brother. He is fine, went bowling yesterday.
After that I had dinner, and went and lay down til pet feeding time.
And here I am.
Gratitude List:
1. The FWiB.
2. Queens Pride
3. Got lots of exercise.
4. Perfect weather.
5. Clean laundry soon.
6. Bed soon!
