Manhattan day
Oct. 6th, 2025 11:24 pmGot up at 10:30 and had breakfast and coffee. I got a phone call from Middle Brother's group home, there was an issue they wanted to make me aware of, but not serious, so that's OK. Then showered, dressed, and headed to meet
mashfanficchick.
We arranged to meet at Starbucks so I got there and ordered a pumpkin spice latte. And waited for it. And waited.
mashfanficchick got there, and I was still waiting. Turns out their printer glitched and never printed out my order, but it was in the computer system so they made it an apologized.
Then we went into Manhattan, forgetting to go to the post office first.
We took the E train, missed the stop, continued on, and took the L train to Union Square, which was our destination. The first thing we did was have lunch, at Pokeworks. Yummy poke and jasmine milk tea.
We walked through the Union Square Green Market, and I bought some maple candy. I LOVE maple.
Then we went to Barnes and Noble. I decided that I wanted to get Somewhere Beyond the Sea, the sequel to The House on the Cerulean Sea, which I had been putting off getting because I loved the first book so much that I was afraid the second couldn't live up to it. But I decided it was time. So I went to look for it, but they were out. So I got a romantasy called Wooing the Witch Queen, that I had seen somewhere mentioned and been interested in.
After Barnes and Noble we started out for the Strand, but went into Fantastic Planet first, where I made an unsuccessful search for a Kolchak graphic novel. No matter, I can orer them online.
Then we went to the Strand, where I found Somewhere Beyond the Seam and bought it. We wandered around the Strand for quite awhile, I looked for books for the Kid for Christmas but didn't find anything.
Then we started for the Jefferson Market Library so
mashfanficchick could renew zer library card. We discovered a costume store up the street from the Strand and wandered through that.
The Jefferson Market Library is fabulous, in a building I can't begin to describe. Ze got zer card renewed and we looked around a bit, then left, and went to Washington Square Park. We saw the inflatable Scabby the Rat picketing a restaurant, and got a flyer about why we should boycott it.
When we got to the park there was an ice cream truck so we got ice cream... expensive, but tasty. We sat in the park for a long time, watching things. There was mock fighting, and all sorts of stuff going on.
Then we walked to the Tashkent Supermarket where I got about a half pound of beef stroganoff to bring home.
Then we got on the subway and headed home. I got off at the stop for the 7 train, took that to Flushing, and the 44 bus home.
I got here and got the computer warmed up and working finally, and Teamed the FWiB. I ate my stroganoff while I was getting the Teams going.
Then I fed the pets, and now I'm here. A wonderful day.
