Quiet day, mostly
Jan. 5th, 2026 10:15 pmMy alarm went off at 10:00, but I hit the snooze button until 11:40. Then I got up, and had breakfast and coffee. Then I showered and dressed.
Then I got out the external dvd/cd player and experimented a little. To my joy, the player did everything I tried. I don't know if it can burn a cd or dvd yet though. The way the paperwork is written is a little confusing on that point. I'll experiment with that at some later time.
My mail was delivered, and I received the copy of The Big Golden Book of Poetry that I ordered on Ebay. It's in great condition, exactly as I remember it. So happy to have it.
I was going to watch Knives Out, but by then it was around 3:40 and Knives Out is two hours and 10 minutes long. I wanted to get my laundry at 5:00, so the movie would run too long to do that. and no, I didn't want to stop it and restart after going out.
So I just puttered online for awhile. Just before 5:00,
mashfanficchick called, and we talked for awhile about what we'd been up to.
Then after we got off, I got my shoes and socks on and went out for the laundry. Nothing of interest to note.
Then I got back on the computer, and for some reason went to LibreOffice, which is the program I use for word processing. It said there was an update, a new version and I should download it. OK.
So I did, nothing much involved in that. Had to restart the computer but OK. Then I went to open the program and... nothing. It wouldn't open. The documents I created with it, all the writing I've done on this computer, was in the documents folder but the documents wouldn't open. Nothing.
I tried restarting the computer, that didn't work. I was starting to panic a little. But it was time to Team the FWiB so I calmed down and did that.
We talked about an hour and a half, and during that time, I figured out the next thing to try was downloading the program again on the assumption something didn't download right the first time.
So after we got off, I did that. I ended up doing it several times because the download box kept showing up, I think I clicked the download to many times. But no matter, after the last time, I tried it and LibreOffice opened right up. All my writing was there, all safe.
So that was the excitement for the day. After that it was almost pet feeding time so I made myself dinner and ate, and then fed the pets.
And here we are.
Gratitude List:
1. The FWiB.
2. Clean laundry.
3. The cd/dvd player works well.
4. I got LibreOffice working.
5. Friends.
6. Got my poetry book.
