Slept late this morning and then went into Manhattan to the Port Authority to find out about the bus up to where The Kid is living now, cause that's what I'm doing Mother's Day. Then after I got the info, I went to Union Square to The Strand bookstore... as they advertise, "over 10 miles of Books". On the way I stopped in at Forbidden Planet, but I didn't get anything. But at The Strand I got two books, Dreamweaver's Dilemma, early short stories by Lois McMaster Bujold, and The Lions of al-Rassan (I think I spelled that right) by Guy Gavriel Kay. Both were books I had at one time but lost when I moved from the old apartment in College Point. It's good to have them back.

Then I went to Starbucks to sit down for awhile, and have a frappacino, and then to the Panera which was right next door to have something for dinner. Then I came home.

And I am very proud of myself for navigating in the city and figuring out how to get to where I want to go, because I'm always very timid about that, even after living here so long. So I feel good.

And [livejournal.com profile] mashfanficchick called and asked if i wanted to go out for a bite to eat, of course I did, though dessert only, so we went to Pizza Uno with her mother and I got an apple thing.

And now it's time for bed.

Gratitude List:

1. Friends.

2. Found what I needed at the Port Authority.

3. The Strand.

4. Good books.

5. NYC mass transit.

6. Good food.

Yeah, I love going to The Strand, and I never did by myself before. So I feel good about that now.
