It's the 13th so what do you expect?
Feb. 13th, 2018 10:24 pmWas late to work, and it wasn't even my fault. There was a traffic tie-up between Lafayette and Brush, probably caused by the small drawbridge on the Bruckner. So there's that. Then, later I did the laptop program and no one showed up. I closed it halfway through.
I looked up the prices for tickets to see the FWiB, and they have gone up. Not going to get a fare under $200 after all.
After work I called the FWiB and we had a nice talk until just before he was going to say good-by, and then I lost the connection. And although I e-mailed immediately, his reply got hung up in the aether until after 10. (When it came in it was time stamped a little after 7) So I was thinking all sorts of bizarre things had happened.
My meeting was good however, so that was a bright spot.
And now I am going to transfer money from my savings to my checking so I can buy the plane tickets tomorrow without waiting for payday, in case the prices go up again.
Gratitude List:
1. The FWiB.
2. My boss.
3. Got some work done for the program I'm planning tomorrow.
4. Good weather for February.
5. Not to hot in here for a change.
6. I have the money to pay for plane tickets.

Date: 2018-02-15 04:48 am (UTC)It's a long, tangled story. Back at the time my husband walked out on me, an old and dear friend and coworker made me an offer I couldn't refuse. Seems that though he loves his wife dearly, she had totally given up on sex, and he had told her that he wasn't going to live like a monk, so they worked it out that he could find someone for a lover as long as he didn't shove her face in it. So we became part time lovers, once a month on average. Then stuff happened and he had to leave work and retire early rather than be fired. And it turned out that unbeknowen to me he had a severe drinking problem. He was basically a functional alcoholic, and faced with the loss of his job, he started drinking more and more. Then because of the money issues caused by his premature retirement he and his wife moved to Ohio, where he kept drinking worse and worse. Stuff happened and he ended up in the nursing home, an invalid, and sober by default. He hasn't had anything for two years now, and says he'll never drink again, I hope he can stick to it if he ever gets out of the home.
So I'm going now to visit him and also visit my other friend there as well. It's just happy coincidence that another very old friend just happens to live in the same area as the FWiB's nursing home.
So that's the story. Any questions, I'll be happy to answer.
