Had a Happy 4th of July
Started out having Oldest Brother pick me up, and we went to College Point to Supremes to get sandwiches. Then drove to the big park, and settled under my favorite tree for quite a few hours of lounging, reading, eating, and keeping cool. It was great on the hill, a nice breeze, and so much cooler than inland. We got popsicles from the Mr. Softee truck.
At 6:00 we slowly moved out, sat for awhile watching the East River, and wonderfully diverse people in the park. Then we drove to Carvel and got sundaes.
Came home and ordered a pizza for dinner. Then discovered that my cable wasn't working, putting a damper on our plans to watch the Macy's fireworks. Called Spectrum and "spoke" to an automaated line that rebooted the cable box remotely. While that was happening the pizza arrived, so we ate and then tried the TV again. NOthing so I called Spectrum back and spoke to a live technician who solved the problem: Somehow the cable box had got set to the wrong setting.
So we watched the fireworks which were pretty good as always, and drank most of a (small) bottle of mead dating from last year's trip to see the Kid. (Who btw, I texted and who texted me back today)
And then we had desert of small personal apple pies, and then it was time for Oldest Brother to go home.
A very pleasant and satisfying day all around.
Gratitude List:
1. The FWiB, who I was e-mailing all day.
2. Oldest Brother.
3. The big park, and the wonderful diversity of people there.
4. Spectrum's live tech help.
5. Carvel.
6. The 4th of July.

The thing I liked best about your day was your enjoyment of the wonderfully diverse people at the park. *THAT* is what makes America great.

The park is wonderful, a prime example of Queens diversity. I've always loved it, it's one of the few things I miss about where I used to live before my ex-husband left. It was nice to have an excuse to come back for awhile.
