Got up this morning and, after breakfast and coffee, went to meet up with [personal profile] mashfanficchick. We met a bit after 11, and headed in to Manhattan to the Museum of the City of New York to see the Germs and the City exhibit. It was fascinating. We took the audio tour, which really added to it.

After we finished that exhibit we did the Activism in New York exhibitm which was also fascinating. Then we browsed the gift shop, and I bought another gift for the Kid fot her birthday.

After that we took the bus downtown and went to the poke restaurant near Union Square, and had dinner. Delicious.

And then, since we were so near, we did the Strand book store. I bought one sort of expensive book and two for 48 cents each. So it was three books for a quite reasonable price.

And then we took a brief time in Whole Foods, while she got food to bring home to her mother.

Then we went home, achy and tired. But it was a very good day.

No Skyping of course but kept in touch with the FWiB through e-mail.

Gratitude List:

1. The FWiB.

2. Public health programs.

3. The Museum of the City of New York.

4. Friends to do things with.

5. Activists.

6. Painkillers... my back is killing me.

Sounds like a fun day! I'd give anything to go to any museum in NYC. I went there once on a class trip, and we had about thirty minutes at the Met. D: My mother was racing around trying to see as much as she could, and I was lost in the three-story gift shop, becoming more and more amazed by their tiny elevator. I was a stupid teenager.

I gather you aren't in NY

I live in Alabama. D: I went there on a school trip; we rode in a charter bus for eighteen hours up and back. It was worth it though!

Have you ever been to DC? I loved the museums there. I wish we had gone at a different time, because it was during 4th of July week and very crowded.

I'd love to visit a lot of places in New England. Vermont and upstate New York are on my list.

What did you like at the Smithsonian? My favorite thing I saw at the Smithsonian were these "dolls" that were ballerinas made by Degas after he became blind. *artnerd*
