Day off

I ended up sleeping quite late. But when i got up I ended up getting a few things done that needed doing, though not, alas, everything I intended to.

But what I did do was, I changed the blown out light bulbs in the bathroom. Turns out that the ceiling light has two bulbs, not one, though I think one's been blown out since before I moved in, because I don't remember the bathroom getting any dimmer at any point. Anyway, I got on the ladder, and I had to use a wrench to unscrew the thing that holds the cover on, but after that it was OK. Fortunately I had two unused bulbs. The weird thing is, when I turn the switch on there is a noticeable lapse of time before the light goes on. That's weird.

Anyway, once I had light in the bathroom, I Drainoed the sink which was stopped up. It took two applications of Draino, but it is now working well. After that I showered and washed my hair and dressed.

Then I Skyped the FWiB. I also texted mashfanficchick and we determined that after I finished Skyping the FWiB I'd head over to her. So that's what I did.

But first I walked down to the drugstore and picked up my prescriptions. Then I got the 13 bus straight from there to the center of Flushing and got the subway.

So I got to mashfanficchick and we had dinner at a Mexican place, very good. After that we went to Baskin Robbins for ice cream. And the the Kid called me.

So I talked to her for part of the way home, and then I called her when I got back. We talked til she went to bed, and I read her one of the stories from her old 365 Bedtime Stories book that I read to her every night for several years when she was a child.

And that was my day.

My lights in the barn have a noticeable delay like that and I remember when I asked about it my husband said it was the kind of bulbs in the fixtures that causes it. I have lights in two different areas (downstairs and in the hayloft) on different switches and they all do it. The delay seems a tad longer when it is cold.

I have the same bulbs in other fixtures in the house and that doesn't happen though, so I don't know. It's a mystery. Rather disturbing.

*Ha!* Well, if I was reading her bedtime stories on a regular basis any more, maybe.
