Day four: vernal equinox

So spring starts tonight at 11:49. Four minutes from now as I type this.

I actually got out of the house today! Breakfasted, coffeed, tossed on some clothes and took the garbage out. Then I continued around the block, past Dunkin' Donuts, where I stopped in for a takeout of a cocoa mocha iced latte, and continued back to the apartment. It felt good getting out. There were a fair number of people around, many in masks. One store had a sign saying they ha alcohol and wipes.

Puttered on line, and read, then Skyped the FWiB. his wife is facetiming him every day too, so we have to fit out calls around that. He is very happy to have two women talking to him every day.

I called mashfanficchick just to say hi, and we had a nice talk. I also called the Kid but she was having a group conversation with some friends.

After dinner I went to read some more. I have finished Clockwork Boys and am starting the second in the duology, Wonder Engine, I think it's called. Wonder something. Anyway, just when I was going to call Oldest Brother the Kid called back and we had a nice long chat.

Then I called Oldest Brother, and we talked, and after that I rearranged some of the books on my shelves because the Kid said I could bring a few of hers to her when we see each other.

And it's now past 11:49, so Happy Spring!

Okay, what's FWiB stand for? Unless you've never said on here, then I'm fine without knowing, but I feel like I'm late to the game. And you don't want to know all my backstories I've made up in my head.

(You can only talk over an encrypted line because you can't be in the same state or you'll both get caught for a heist. He's conservative Islam and you can't convert but the love remains and you have pained yet heartfelt discussions every day despite not being able to be together without betraying your true selves. You're an online librarian roleplay kinkster and this is a major source of income that I'm not aware of existing. I can continue. He's probably like... your great uncle who's trapped abroad after trying to Indiana Jones an artifact, now he works for the British Museum. Or DOES HE?! And uses you as the middle man to ship artifacts to be quietly repatriated as a member of that Chinese art theft gang.)

It's a long story, but I don't mind telling it. FWiB stands for Friend With Benefits, and he's a very old and dear friend I knew from work. After my now ex-husband first left me, we became lovers. He is married, but his wife knows and accepts the situation. She's more-or-less asexual, and finally told him she wasn't going to have sex any more. He said he didn't want to leave her but wasn't going to live like a monk, she agreed he could take a lover as long as he was discreet about it. I had always had a little bit of a crush on him, so when he heard my husband had left, and made me a proposal I took him up on it and for a few years we met about once a month. Then a lot of stuff happened, and he and his wife ended up moving to Ohio, so that ended the physical relationship. And it turned out that unknown to just about everyone, he had a severe drinking problem that got much, much worse. A lot of stuff happened, and now he's sober, living in an independent living home, and partially handicapped. I visited him the year before last, I was hoping to visit this year in July, but with the damn virus locking everything down, probably not. So that's the story. Now his home is on lockdown, no visitors allowed, so he Skypes me and facetimes his wife and we all make do.

I mean, you could have been pirates, but that's a lovely story too. The "i" was throwing me wildly off for some reason. Thanks for satisfying my curiosity, I appreciate it.

I started using "FWiB" because the "i" made it possible to pronounce it. Pirates would have been amusing, but, alas....
