Called out sick today

The alarm went off at 6:30 as normal, and I just couldn't. Everything was just too much and I just couldn't. My breasts were uncomfortable, the dressings would have made it difficult to take a shower... I just couldn't. So at 9:00 I tried calling in sick. They have set our phones up in a new way, and I couldn't get through. I had to call my boss's cell phone. Anyway, I did, and that was OK.
I watched the East Bronx all staff meeting, even though I was on sick leave. I guess I'll put it on my time sheet. Or not.
Later I tried calling the surgeon to make my appointment, and got told to call back tomorrow. Very frustrating.
I got a call from Oldest Brother's rehab. They want to give him the pneumonia vaccine, so I said yes to that.
The Kid called me, her TV has died, so she had to order a new one.
I puttered on the computer, and read, and dozed. Got a facebook message from Lu Rice, which was nice.
I finished reading the Janet Evanovitch book, and started the book of Valdemar short stories.
Skyped the FWiB. Only had a short talk though because he had been on with his brother, and then I had my meeting.
My meeting was not a total success. Ended up having it by phone with just M.
And the Chauvin verdict. Guilty, guilty, guilty. Good!!
Tonight I take the big dressings off my breasts and just leave the steristrips, which stay on for four days.
Called Oldest Brother for the third time, called the Kid, then read until it was time to feed the pets.
Gratitude List:
1. The FWiB.
2. Sick time.
3. Taking the dressings off soon.
4. Working from home tomorrow.
5. Fun books.
6. My meetings and the people there.

Date: 2021-04-21 11:56 am (UTC)Please report on the Valdemar book, I've been eyeing it since like every good thirteen year old I imprinted on the series. I've found the quality of Lackey's ghost writers to be...variable. Interested to see what you think.

Date: 2021-04-22 02:44 am (UTC)The book is, I hate to say, rather so-so. A lot of the stories seem to be sequels to stories from previous volumes and leave something to be desired in their ability to stand alone. I mostly bought it for the Lackey novella that's included, which I haven't gotten to yet.
