So, about my week at the cottage

It was wonderful.
mashfanficchick and zer mother got me to the train with about 20 minutes to spare, no problem. The trip up was scenic and relaxing, and I saw TWO bald eagles flyong over the Hudson River.
I called a taxi when I got to Depew, and he was willing to take me to Tops to shop and from there to the cottage, and that was the only problem I had with the trip, I wanted to pay for the taxi by credit card, and because of the bad connectivity at the cottage, the driver couldn't make a connection with his hone to use the card reader. Fortunately I had cash, but it was a pain, and used up all my cash.
The next day Sue came by and we had a nice conversation on the porch, and then I made hummingbird nectar. Then at 4:30 the Eshelman's picked me up, after a nice bit of conversation on the porch, and we went to Gordie Harper's for dinner, stopping at an atm in Newfane first. I had the chicken and biscuits, which was delicious. They broiught me home and I filled the hummingbird feeder and hung it.
Monday it rained, which was good as it broke the heat, the rest of my time was nice and cool.
Wednesday I walked to Keg Creek, slid down to the creek at the bluff, crossed over, and got a bit lost on the far side, but eventually made it to the road. I saw foxes! In the distance, not close up, but I did. I went down the stairs at the road where it crosses Keg Creek, and walked there a little, but the path was too overgrown so I came back. Then I stopped at the Singer's Tart Cherry sales place, and got a tart cherry fizz to drink and a bag of chocolate covered dried cherries which were DELICIOUS.
Friday I walked in to Olcott, which is two miles. Actually Sue drove me part of the way (she passed me and stopped to ask if I wanted a ride) but i walked most of it, and all the way back. I also walked all around town. I rode the merry-go-round, and there is now a Ferris wheel in town, I don't know if he'll last long there, but I gave it a try.
When I got back I rested a bit, and in the evening went over to Sue's and hung out with her and Rick and Ricky and Martha. Sadly the babies were in bed already. They played euchre and I watched and we chatted.
Saturday I came home. I cleaned up, and packed, and got a taxi (I called and arranged it the night before) and got to the train station nice and early. The trip back wasn't as great as the trip up, but it was good.
mashfanficchick and zer mother met me and we went to dinner at Wendy's, then they brought me home where I found that someone had stolen my seltzer order. So that sucked, but that was the only thing wrong. Oreo and Christie are fine.
I called Oldest Brother three times a day just like here, and i called Middle Brother twice. I hung out with Linda and her family (Sara and Fabian and Ella were there, and Alan of course) but couldn't go to their cottage as they had covid. I visited when they were in the playground with Ella, and kept 10 feet away at all times. I talked to the FWiB by phone each day too.
The Mullaine's let me use their wifi which was a big help. I saw chipmunks, and hummingbirds, and other birds and squirrels and of course the foxes I mentioned.
It was a great time and I'm so glad I went. Oh, I made arrangements to go to Mike and Kat's wedding in October, by train, and RSVPed. So that will be great fun too!
Today I slept late, and didn't do much of anything. I walked to Dunkin' Donuts for brunch. I Skyped the FWiB, and I called Oldest Brother and Middle Brother, and the Kid. The kid didn't answer, probably out with Vincent. I called
mashfanficchick too, but ze wasn't doing anything.
So that was my vacation. Back to work tomorrow.
Gratitude List:
1. The FWiB.
2. My family.
3. The cottage.
4. My friends.
5. Wildlife.
6. A great week.
