Out to Long Island

I got up at 7 this morning to get to David Myles's mother's funeral. I took the 44 bus to Jamaica, and from there took the LIRR to the Pinelawn stop. The train was rescheduled to three different tracks, first it was track 7, then track 8, then track 6 finally. Lots of stair climbing.
Made it to Pinelawn where I tried to get a taxi. It was not easy, I made a LOT of calls to the taxi company before I finally got through to a human and got a cab to the funeral chapel. I met up with David and his son Oliver there.
The service was very moving. It was a Jewish service, which I'm only slightly familiar with. After the service we went to the burial, I drove with David and Oliver. That also was very moving. Then we went to a lunch at a diner. I got a tuna melt on rye, very tasty.
Then they drove me back to the Pinelawn station and dropped me off. That was a mistake. When I tried to look up when the next train to Jamaica was, I discovered to my shock that there was no next train. The rest of the trains for the rest of the day till tomorrow afternoon don't stop at Pinelawn. Fortunately there were trains going east. So I got the next one, got off at the next stop, Wyndanch, and got a New York bound train from there. That involved more walking and stair climbing.
I got the next train back to Jamaica, and the 44 bus from there. But I am wiped from all the activity and stress and worry about the train and taxi. Not that I'm sorry I went, not at all. I'm glad I was there for David. And it was very nice to see him and meet Oliver. But I'm tired.
Anyway, I came home and Skyped the FWiB, which was nice, and I finally filled out the paperwork for my lease renewal, which is now ready to be mailed.
At the burial we were given white roses to throw on the coffin, which I did. But after, there were some left over, and I was asked by the person carrying them if I wanted one to take home. Not wanting to seem ungrateful I said yes, but I felt a little uncomfortable carrying it around after. It made it home slightly wilted but has perked up in water.
I called Oldest Brother this morning but he didn't answer, I called again from Wyndanch, and he picked up and I found he had been having a shower. I called for the third time at 9. I also called the Kid, but she didn't pick up.
Now I'm going to finish here and go lie down and maybe read for a bit.
Gratitude List:
1. The FWiB.
2. David Myles.
3. The LIRR.
4. Got the rose home safely.
5. Got the lease paperwork done.
6. Bed soon.
