The Queen is dead, long live the King
Sep. 8th, 2022 10:11 pmThat's the big historical news today.
I started the day by sleeping moderately late, then breakfast and coffee, and then lying in bed till I worked up the effort of dress and walk down to the drug store to pick up the prescription for the stuff i need to drink to prep for the colonoscopy. That's not until December of course, but this is when they filled the prescription. It's powder till I mix it, so it'll last just fine.
When I got back, I heard the news that the Queen had died, though I had known that her family was on a deathwatch before. I called Oldest Brother, and i texted the Kid. Been reading the thread about it on ship-of-fools all day.
I Skyped the FWiB, and we talked for a nice long time.
After that I did basically nothing for the day. Puttered online, took a nap. Finally at 8:00 I ate dinner, and then called Middle Brother, who is enthused about the new furniture they got for the living room in his group home. Then I called Oldest brother for the fourth time, and finally called the Kid. She didn't pick up, but called me back.
Of course, being American, the death of the Queen doesn't affect me personally, but it's sad, and feels a bit strange to know that she's gone. And that Charles finally has his chance to be King.
Tomorrow I have to get up quite early to get to the Library for the Performing Arts, for an in-person meeting. So I'm going to bed early.
Gratitude List:
1. The FWiB.
2. Got the prescription filled and there was no co-pay.
3. Bed soon.
4. Ship-of-fools.
5. Payday tomorrow.
6. Beautiful weather when I went out.
