Didja' miss me?
I had an absolutely wonderful time.
mashfanficchick and zer mother picked me up and I got to the train station just as they were lining up to board. The trip down was uneventful, except we were about half an hour late, with the result that I didn't get the rehearsal dinner quite on time. But that's OK, it was very informal. I took an Uber to the hotel first, and check in,. went up to my room, dropped my luggage and quickly changed from my tee shirt to a nicer one. I didn't take the time to change into the pants I brought specifically to wear to the rehearsal dinner though. Anyway, I took an Uber to the place it was being held, and everyone was happy to see me. Which was nice.
I had four glasses of their honey wines, one of each variety. John, Denise and Brianne drove me back to the hotel afterward. The Kid and Vincent got in around 2 am, so I didn't see them that night.
The next day I got up and went to the Starbucks in the hotel for breakfast, then I put on the bathing suit that I said I brought "just in case", and I went swimming. No one else was there though so I didn't stay too long. But it was a lovely pool.
Then I Skyped the FWiB on my phone for awhile, till it was time to start getting ready for the wedding. I showered and washed my hair and moussed it, and got dressed. The pantyhose were too small, so I went bare legged. But I looked really goo. The Kid did some makeup for me, and finally I went down to the bus they chartered for the transportation to the venue.
The wedding ceremony was low-key except for the beer distribution in lieu of a flower gorl. The bride's father wore a kilt and full regalia.
The reception was in a tent. The kid and Vincent and I were seated with John and Denise and Brianne and two other people, relatives of Amy's. The food was pretty good, though not really great, but the music was really nice. There was much drinking and dancing.
Then we all took the bus back to the hotel and after some fuddling around as to where we would after-party we ended up having a lobby party right there. The Kid more or less arranged it.
So we hung out in the lobby and drank more and Nancy sent out for Domino's pizza.
Finally things trailed off, quite late, and I went to bed. Got up the next morning at 8:00. Steve and Amy had invited everyone to their air bnb for brunch and I arranged to go with he Kid and Vincent. So I showered and dressed and packed everything and went and checked out (after using the hotel coffee maker for coffee.)
John and Denise and Brianne showed up while I was waiting for the Kid, and I went to Starbucks again. They took my suitcase as the Kid had been afraid she couldn't fit it in her car. She had a lot of stuff for Vincent who is going to a conference this weekend in Washington DC. She's going with him and they are spending this week in Arlington.
The Kid and Vincent finally showed up and we got to Steve and Amy's, we missed the pancakes though but there were other things. And we sat around and talked more, and had a nice time. Little by little everyone left. My train wasn't until 5 so I was one of the last ones there, just John and Denise were left, and Steve and Amy took us all to our destinations, them to the airport, me to the train station. It was a close thing. I got there with seven minutes to spare! But I made it, so all's well.
The trip was quiet, there was no cafe car so I had nothing to eat. So when
mashfanficchick and zer mother picked me up we went to Taco Bell for a late, late dinner. I got to bed at a little after 2;00. All was well at the apartment, and my seltzer was not stolen this time.
I had arranged to go in to work at 12 today so I slept till 10 and then made it on time.
Today was the first day of the OPen House week, and the start of the limited edition Spider-man cards. So we were busy. I did the Teen Lounge, got 13. The end of the day was chaotic and busy, but we survived it.
Came home, and Skyped the FWiB, then had my Al-anon meeting by Zoom. Very small, but good. Afterward I had dinner and called Oldest Brother for the third time. I called the Kid too but she didn't pick up. She texted me earlier in the day though.
And now it's time for bed!
Gratitude list:
1. The FWiB.
2. My family.
3. Amtrak.
4. Got to the wedding.
5. Got an audience for my program.
6. The boss is on vacation.
I had an absolutely wonderful time.
