My trip home was a nightmare

silver_chipmunkThe day went pretty well up to that point. I was on time for work, I got four kids for the Teen Lounge, and I had a nice text conversation with the Kid. The only downside was that I can't get to Vermont this weekend because I have no way to get home; all the trains on Sunday were fully booked. But at least I get a full refund for my ticket up.
But anyway, I got on the 50 bus to go home, and we got halfway over the Whitestone Bridge, and something went wrong. There was an alarm going and the bus stopped. The driver, and another one who happened to be on the bus tried everything to get it going again while we sat there. They finally flagged down the 44 that was coming up on us, and had us all move to the 44.
The 44 bus sat there for a long time. Finally it got going, and we got off the bridge. But at the first bus stop in Queens, it stopped. And stayed stopped. I have no idea what happened, but the next 44 that came along, they moved all of us over to that bus. So there we were, the people from the 50 and from the first 44, all jammed in one already occupied bus.
Finally I got home, stopping to buy some orange juice so Middle Brother will have something to drink while he's here. Then one good thing, my aquarium thermometer package mysteriously appeared by the mailboxes. I think what happened is that the delivery person left it in the wrong place and someone moved it today. I don't know where it was for the last 24 hours, but I'm glad to get it. I put it in the tank.
Anyway it was almost 8 by the time I got home. I called Oldest Brother for the third time (I called him from the bus to tell him why I would be home late), and I Skyped the FWiB for a little bit, until it was time for my Al-anon meeting. The meeting was very small.
After that I ate dinner and called Oldest Brother again, and then I called the Kid. We talked for a long time.
Tomorrow the Thanksgiving madness starts.
