To all who feel inclined to celebrate. Got up this morning and the Kid texted about 10:30 that she was starting to get ready, so I started getting ready too. Ate breakfast, had coffee, showered, washed and moussed my hair, and got dressed. She got to my place around 1:30, and we left for Old Westbury gardens.

The day was lovely. WE saw the house and the gardens, and saw a lot of wildlife, including birds, goldfish, frogs (one massive old bullfrog was especially impressive) several turtles (one HUGE snapper who was practically begging to be fed) and, in the walled garden a little lizard. The flowers were beautiful. We had a wonderful time. We got a snack at the cafe, iced tea and apple crumb cake. The weather was lovely, warm but not to hot and nicely breezy.

At a bit before 6, when they close, we left and went to Mim's Restaurant, which was expensive but really nice. We indulged ourselves, got wine and appetizers and I got dessert. We split the appetizers, shrimp dumplings and tuna tartre, then I had angle hair and chicken, and a banana parfait for dessert. We had wine with dinner, and it was very nice. I put it on credit.

Then the Kid brought me home. Her Mother's Day gift to me, btw, besides the trip. and the garden tickets, was a lovely leather purse to use for good occasions, rather than my usual one.

We also were celebrating her birthday, so I gave her her presents. Her birthday is tomorrow.

Got home, called Oldest Brother (I called Middle Brother in the car on the way home) then Skyped the FWiB.

Gratitude List:

1. The FWiB.

2. The Kid. Best Mother's Day I've had in years.

3. Middle brother had a fun time yesterday.

4. Old Westbury Gardens.

5. Good restaurant.

6. Lovely day.

Sounds like a really nice day; I'm glad it went so well for you. :)

I keep forgetting that the US celebrates Mother's Day in May, since here in the UK it's the fourth Sunday in Lent (so 19th March this year). It's a fairly quiet thing here, and most people just send cards or perhaps take their mums out for a meal.
