Boxing Day relaxation

Of course we don't celebrate Boxing Day here in the US, which I think is a pity. But anyway, I slept till a little late, got up and had breakfast and coffee. Put in a Shipt order, Downloaded the Barnes and Noble gift card the Kid gave me for Christmas to my Nook, and then bought the new Mercedes Lackey Valdemar which came out last night.

I spent most of the day reading after my Shipt order came. I finished the last of the Starsky and Hutch zines I brought back from SHarecon, and I started the new T Kingfisher Saint of Steel book on my Nook.

At a bit after 6 I Skyped the FWiB and we talked until it was time for my Al-anon meeting. That was very good, with a bunch of people joining.

That's about all I did today really. I called the Kid but she didn't answer, I texted her but she hasn't texted back. I texted mashfanficchick, we are probably getting together in the evening tomorrow for Carvel.

I didn't hear anything about Oldest Brother. He was supposed to have that procedure today but there's no indication of it in his mychart and no one told me anything. Tomorrow I'll have to call them.

That's about all, except that my story Auld Lang Syne got recc'd on the Thursday S&H recs today, so I'm getting lot of hits on it. Which is nice.

To be honest, sleeping late, eating and reading pretty much make up Boxing Day for a lot of people anyway! They certainly do for me. :D

And yay for a fic rec! That's always a really nice feeling.

Well the difference is that you actually have it as a holiday, I believe, right? Whereas I had to take it as a vacation day. But it was nice anyway.

And yes, the rec was a very nice surprise.

That's true; people in retail, food etc do work on Boxing Day of course, but it's not an "office day" so to speak and many small independent shops/cafés are closed.
