I overslept and was 20 minutes late today, and then went with Mr. T to read at the nursing home where we read. Then we came back to the pre-eclipse chaos.
The phone was ringing literally constantly, every one wanting to know if we had eclipse glasses. We had run out on Saturday at 12:00, except for the ones we kept aside to use for the program today. The program was a madhouse, approximately 226 people. I didn't take part, I was scheduled on the desk, but I kept popping out to watch the eclipse.
People who were too late to get glasses were frequently nasty and abusive. It was crazy.
The eclipse itself was worth seeing. We had about 90% cover here so it was worth seeing, And I am happy to say the Kid and her boyfriend got glasses in time to see it, as did
mashfanficchick and zer mother.
All through the eclipse people kept calling and asking if we still had glasses. As late as 4:15 someone called and asked (the eclipse started a little after 2:30)
The rest of the day passed eventually. Someone brought donations of sushi, oddly enough so I had sushi for a late lunch.
After work I met up with
mashfanficchick and zer mother and we went to dinner at Applebee's. Then we had ice cream at Hagen-Dazs. Then I came home and Skyped the FWiB.
And now it's time for bed.
Gratitude List:
1. The FWiB.
2. The kid got glasses in time to see the eclipse.
3. Free sushi.
4. My friends.
5. The eclipse was visible, it wasn't clouded over.
6. Ice cream.
