Saw Oldest Brother today

silver_chipmunkI got up around 10:30 and had breakfast and coffee. I decided that I wanted to do something today, not just hang in the house, and I thought I would like to go to the Queens Botanical Garden. And I was planning on it until I thought I'd better check the hours and make sure they were open on Monday.
Sure enough they re closed Mondays. I decided to go tomorrow instead, but that meant that I wouldn't be able to see Oldest Brother tomorrow, which is what I had planned on. So I decided to go see him today instead.
So that's what I did. I showered and dressed and headed over. To my vast surprise and pleasure, they had him dressed and sitting up in a wheelchair in the ha;;, instead of in a hospital gown in bed. He wasn't so thrilled, but I told him. and I am sure, that it is better for him than lying down all day every day.
So we had a nice visit for a little less than an hour and a half. and then I came home. The wooden cubes that I ordered yesterday to prop up the etagere were delivered, so I got the etagere fixed up. It looks pretty good now.
I called the Kid and told her about Oldest Brother being up and all, and asked how things were there and all is well.
I put another bucket of water in the turtle tank, but I have to change the water thoroughly soon. And I took out the box from the etagere and another bag of recycling and walked around the block.
By then it was around 5:30, so I tried unsuccessfully to take a nap, and then at 6:30 got up and waited to Skype the FWiB at 7.
We talked for about an hour and half, then I got off and had dinner. And I did something unusual for me, I used up the bottle of gin that I had sitting in the kitchen for, literally, years. Since before Oldest Brother had his stroke in 2020, at least. I mixed the last two shot glasses worth with zero calorie cranberry cocktail, and it was actually pretty good. So I had that with dinner, and am somewhat tipsy still as a result. I got rid of the bottle, and that, as well as the stuff with the etagere and the box and recycling, was my cleaning for the day.
I went to the bedroom and puttered on my phone til pet feeding time.

Gratitude List:
