Frustration
Mar. 3rd, 2025 10:24 pmI slept later than I planned today, and got up a bit after 12. Then I had breakfast and coffee, and steeled myself for making phone calls.
First I called Middle Brother's group home to arrange for his birthday outing. That worked out pretty well, though he goes to his day program, so he'll either have to be picked up there, or they'll have to keep him out for the day. The home manager will make that decision, she was out today but she should call me tomorrow.
That was the easy part. Then I had to call to try and figure out what's going on with the $1067 bill that Oldest Brother got from the hospital, not for this most recent visit but for the visit in November of last year. I called the nursing home, they said to call the hospital. I called the hospital, they aid to call Medicaid. I tried called Medicaid.
After several hours of calling and recalling, the first number, that I was given, was simply a phone tree with no way I could find to reach a human. The second number I found online, and it was the same phone tree. The third number did give the option of talking to an agent. So I waited the 16 minutes for the agent only to be told that she couldn't talk to me because I wasn't an authorized person, even though I have his power of attorney and medical proxy. She told me to call the local office and talk to them about getting authorization. The number she gave me?? The first one that started the whole mess.
So I called back the hospital and left a message, they didn't call back. I gave up for the day.
As I said that took several hours. At that point I gave up for the day and went to the bedroom and finished reading the Agatha Christie I was working on.
At a bit after 6:00 I came out and puttered online til it was time to Skype the FWiB. We talked for a little over an hour and a half. That was nice.
Then I had dinner, and went back to the bedroom to call
mashfanficchick to make plans. Turns out she won't be in tomorrow so I have another day at home. Then I played solitaire and read til pet feeding time. I started another Agatha Christie.
I fed the pets and then started here, and that was my very frustrating day. Don't know what I'll do about that bill, I guess I'll try the nursing home again tomorrow.
Gratitude List:
1. The FWiB.
2. Satisfaction with the group home.
3. Good books.
4. My pets.
5. Solitaire game.
6. Friends.
