Veteran's Day
Nov. 11th, 2025 10:13 pmToday is Veteran's Day, and to any vets on my flist, I hope it was happy, and thank you for your service.
I got up at 10:00, breakfasted, had coffee, and discovered the hot water was out again. Once again though they got it fixed before the end of the day, but not before I'd taken a cold sponge bath.
Got dressed, and took out the dirty kitty litter from yesterday. It was quite cold and snowing a little bit!
I killed time until 2:45, and then went and collected my laundry from the laundromat. I wore a heavier coat and my hat and was warmer. The door is still not fixed but I didn't expect it to be yet.
At 3:30 I left for the wake of D's daughter. That's D from my Saturday meeting. I got to the funeral home about 4:00 which was when the wake was supposed to start for non-family. It was already crowded.
They had a small Catholic vigil ceremony, and it was open casket. I hung out with other Al-anon people who came. There were a whole bunch. It was heart breaking. She sounded like a very special person and she was only 31.
Finally I left at 7:30. I took the bus home, and then Teamed the FWiB. I make note here that today was our 15th anniversary. On Veteran's Day 2010 he took me to lunch and made me the offer I couldn't refuse. And here we are 15 years later.
Anyway, after we finished talking I made dinner, and ate, and then it was pet feeding time. Christie did eat tonight, though not everything. but I really think it's the cold. I hope her heater is working.
Anyway, that's the day I'm going to call
mashfanficchick after I finish on the computer to see if anything is up for tomorrow.
Gratitude List:
