Doctor visit
Jun. 16th, 2026 11:59 pmWoke up at 9:00 this morning, never got back to sleep. Got up at 10:00, had my iced coffee and played with my phone. Around 11:00
mashfanficchick woke up and I had cereal for breakfast, cinnamon frosted flakes.
While I was eating, in fact just after I had taken a mouthful, the phone rang and it was the oncologists office. I am not going to go into the process or provide a blow-by-blow, suffice it to say it took three calls from two different people to establish that the test in question was going to be done on tissue collected back in 2021, maybe even the tumor itself, I don't know, and not something I have to do anything for. Which is a relief.
So after all that I took a shower and we went to go to my doctor's appointment, and go to Barnes and Noble, and Wild Fig for lunch first.
However, after we got off the bus and were walking up Union Turnpike to the shopping center with the bookstore and restaurant, I caught the toe of my sandle on the curb, and tripped and fell, sprawling full length injuring my palms (left mostly), knees (right mostly) and left elbow. A woman stopped her car to come to the aid of me and
mashfanficchick. Together they hauled me up, applied hand sanitizer to my left palm and right knee, and basically patched me up.
Then
mashfanficchick took me to Target where I washed up in the bathroom, and ze bought Band-aids and Neosporin and finished the patching.
By then it was to late to eat before my appointment so we went to Barnes and Noble, I looked around a few minutes, then left zer there and went across the road to the doctor.
I told him about my fall, and he said I should get a tetnus shot, which is a good idea anyway as I hadn't had one in over 30 years. Before the Kid was born, probably. And he said an X-ray of the knee too.
Aside from that everything was good with my blood work, so we finished quickly and I had the tetnus shot, which is also diptheria and pertussis together. Diptheria is probably something I don't need but pertussis has been making a comeback thanks to anti-vax nuts.
So after that I went down the hall to Lenox Hill Radiology and asked for the X-ray. They said by then it was too late to fit me in that day but they could schedule me. I asked if they could schedule me at my regular Lenox Hill Radiology in FLushing, where I get my mammograms and where I had all the X-rays of my foot, and they said yes, so I have an appointment for 1:00 tomorrow. Today now since it's after midnight.
So then I went back to meet
mashfanficchick and buy a book, We Solve Murders, the first book in Richard Osman;s new series.
Then we went to Wild Fig for late lunch, which was delicious. And then since I'd had a bad day, we went to Red mango for frozen yogurt dessert.
By then it was too late for me to go shopping with zer, as had been our original intent, so I took the N25 bus to the Q46 to go home. Had to wait quite awhile for the 46. It was late enough that I knew there was no way I'd be home before 7:00 for the FWiB, and not even by 8:00 for my meeting.
The FWiB agreed after my meeting was fine to Team, and I contacted s about the meeting. I said I would start it on my phone and he could run it til I got home.
So that's what we did. I muted my phone so no one on the bus could hear anything. Only M and S were there, so it wasn't a big deal, but we did it. I got home and joined in and we worked it.
Then I fed Oreo who was hungry after a day unfed, and Teamed the FWiB. By the time we got off it was past 10:00. I fed both pets again and started here.
I had some pretty bad tech issues which worry me. I hope this computer isn't failing again.
I texted with the Kid, btw, off and on all day about the situation. She has a cold.
Gratitude List:
1. The FWiB.
2.
mashfanficchick.
3. The nice woman who stopped to help.
4. All my bloods were good.
5. I wasn't hurt worse when I fell.
6. My meetings and the people there, particularly S.
