Halloween!

Well it wasn't all treats, there was a pretty bad trick too. Yesterday mashfanficchick sprained her ankle, which I posted already. Today Dani actually broke her ankle. Two friends with two ankle related injuries in two days. If it was fiction no one would believe it.

But the day mostly went pretty well. Oldest Brother picked me up, he couldn't come in before we left for mashfanficchick's to pick her up because he couldn't find a parking space. So we went straight over to her place and looked for a spot there. No dice. So we just picked her up and went to Qdoba for lunch.

The we went to Michael's to try and get some candy buckets for Theo and Winnie, but had to make due with baskets. And then we went to mashfanficchick's mother's place, where she and Dani and the kids had just arrived, and we set up the rest of the decorations. It was very effective.

The trick-or-treaters started showing up at 3:00 or so. Just as predicted every year, swarms and hordes and masses of them. But oddly, we didn't run out of stuff this year.

Anyway, things were in full swing when Dani came back from taking the kids to see some friends who were also trick-or-treating in the area. And that's when she tripped over the extension cord we had plugging in the cd player Oldest Brother was playing Halloween music on, fell down the front doorstep, and that was that. mashfanficchick called an ambulance, because there was no way we could have gotten her to an emergency room otherwise. She went with her, so MJ and I did most of the trick-or-treaters by ourselves.

It was very tiring. MJ eventually left, but by then the crowd was thinning. It took forever for Dani and mashfanficchick to get back. By the time they did, things were pretty dead. We packed up what remained and cleaned up a little, and then we all went out for dinner, MJ joining us.

We went to Fridays, which was good. After we ate, we spit up, and Oldest brother and I took mashfanficchick and MJ, while [Bad username or unknown identity: mashfanficchick"]'s mother took Dani and the kids back to New Jersey.

Oldest Brother brought me home, and here I am.

Didn't get to call the FWiB but we e-mailed all day so that was OK.

Another annoyance, I went to pay my rent and found they are charging me that $128 that I paid back in July to bring the security deposit up to the current rent. So I will have to call them tomorrow.

Recovering from Halloween

I didn't sleep as late as I could have considering how late I was up last night. I breakfasted and had my coffee, and then called the building management company to find out about that $128 on my rent. Didn't get through then, left a message on someone's voice mail, and also sent an e-mail. Then I started watching Daredevil.

After a couple of episodes I Skyped to the FWiB and we had a nice talk, somewhat disturbed by the fact that the WiFi at the home is crappy. But we managed OK.

Then I called the management company back and actually reached a person and yeah darn it, I really do owe that $128 because they didn't bill me for it in September when my rent was supposed to go up. So I paid my rent, and then went back to watching Daredevil.

And that's really all I did all day. I watched eight episodes total, and am now about halfway through season 2.

At 9-ish I finished episode eight and went into the bedroom to lie down, waiting to call Oldest Brother. But I texted The Kid to tell her how much I had watched, and she called me. So we had a very long conversation about Daredevil, and New York City, and how she's looking forward to coming back, and so on. She will be looking at apartments Monday. So I called Oldest Brother late but he was OK with it.

And that was my day.
