HAPPY NEW YEAR!

They let us out of work at 3:00 today. It was a very quiet day, probably most people thought we were closed.

After work I Skyped the FWiB, and then met up with mashfanficchick and her mother. We went shopping for New Years Eve supplies, then they took me home where I fed the pets and packed a bag and then went to mashfanficchick's place.

We ate cheese and crackers and pepperoni, and then called in sushi for dinner. We watched the original version of Ocean's 11, and ate our sushi when it came, cause nothing says New Year's like raw fish on rice.

When the movie was over we had just enough time to switch over to watch the ball drop. We had noisemakers that I picked up, and herring, and sparkling apple juice. I called Oldest and Middle Brothers and texted the Kid (who is at a party).

Then we played games on computer with RK, Robyn and their friend Liz.

Now we are going to have ice cream and then bed.

New Years Day

Slept until about 11, then puttered on my phone until mashfanficchick and her mother woke up. She got Starbucks for us, and then we ate bagels (gluten free) and lox and cream cheese, and shrimp.

Eventually we watched another movie, What's Up Doc, which for those who don't know is a 60s screwball romantic comedy staring Barbara Streisand. Very funny.

I Skyped the FWiB, only for about 15 minutes before he went to dinner.

The kid called, upset as usual. I talked her down as best I could. While i was talking to her another call came through. I didn't recognize the name so I ignores it, but when I listened to the message, it turned out it was from John Ivon!

So that was the day. They drove me home after the movie, and all is well here.

So it's a new month, a new year, a new decade (yes I am one of those who thinks the decade starts now). May we all have better luck and better times than before.
