Heart scan

Had the MUGA scan today. This involves removing a vial of blood (from my left arm), mixing it with Warfarin so it won't clot, irradiating it, and reinserting it (through my right hand), then taking the scans, one of which took five minutes and one ten minutes. I am radioactive enough to have to avoid young children and pregnant women for a day, and drink lots of water to flush my system. Fun times.

The scan was much less uncomfortable than the breast MRI. So there's that.

[personal profile] mashfanficchick and zer mother brought me and dropped me off at the Starbucks near the building, then went and got the brakes on the car fixed. After I was finished they were also done so they came and picked me up. I refilled my Metrocard while I was waiting, and also called Oldest Brother and the Kid.

In the morning before they picked me up I got a call from Northwell Health about the presurgery screening, which is going to be on the 6th. And the woman mentioned in passing that my surgery (to insert the port) was the 8th. More than anyone's told me! Luckily I have all next week off from work. Not a great vacation, but OK.

Anyway, after they picked me up we went to lunch at Panera, and then back to [personal profile] mashfanficchick's place and I helped out there for a couple of hours. Skipped my meeting. Then we went to dinner at Olive Garden, which was the first time I was there. It was OK, pretty good actually. The Kid called me while we were there.

On the way home we stopped at Rite Aid and I bought masks, which I was out of. Then when I got home, the FWiB Skyped for a few minutes just to say good night.

The pets are fed, and I'm ready to go to bed.

Gratitude List:

1. The FWiB.

2. The Kid.

3. Oldest Brother.

4. Got the scan over with.

5. Good dinner.

6. Didn't have to undress for the scan.

I thought I was working all five days this week, and that Tuesday and Friday I had taken as sick leave, and I was free today. Turns out I was free Tuesday and working today. I found this out at 10:00 this morning,. Obviously I got to work very late.

Still, considering that it went OK. I scheduled a program for the 28th and did a flyer and facebook post for it. So that was good.

Came home, called Oldest Brother and Skyped the FWiB. The call was very frustrating, very bad connection, kept freezing up. But I enjoyed it.

During the day I got a call about my pre-surgery Covid test, and scheduled it. The Kid actually got called because I couldn't pick up the phone so presumably they called my emergency contact too. So she called me and we had a short but nice talk.

Sad news of the day, Sandra Payne, the former Staten Boro YA Specialist, died this morning, of complications of her kidney transplant. I will miss seeing her posts on facebook.

There is a helicopter buzzing around the area, very unnerving.

Gratitude List:

1. The FWiB.

2. Got some work done.

3. Flowers in bloom.

4. Didn't get drenched on my way to work or back.

5. The Kid.

6. I'm onside and not dealing with whatever that helicopter is doing.
