Three day weekend, day two
May. 28th, 2023 11:30 pmWas woken up at 6:40 this morning by my GM on Facebook messenger wanting to know if I'd picked out a character for the new game we're starting on Wednesday in Pathfinder. I said I was thinking of being a paladin. He said that was good, and suggested as a race a Gillman, for various reasons. I guess that's what I'll go for then. Why he decided to contact me at 6:40. 5:40 his time, I do not know, but after our conversation I looked at the stuff about Gillmen, and went back to sleep.
Got up for real a bit after 10, and called Oldest Brother and
mashfanficchick. Had breakfast and coffee, then puttered on the computer. Talked to
mashfanficchick again to make plans, and finally showered and dressed. They picked me up around 1.
We went to Roosevelt Field, though the traffic getting there was awful. I gave zer zer birthday present, which is a tee shirt with a quote from A Wrinkle in Time on it. I knew that is one of zer favorite books, what I didn't know is that the quote is one of zer favorite lines from the book. So that worked out very well, and I am happy.
We walked around Roosevelt Field, went to various places, and finally got food at the food court. Then we went to Barnes and Noble.
At Barnes and Noble I picked out a book, and then asw another one which I have put on my Fantastic Fiction wish list to get later. Then I saw the one volume illustrated complete Earthsea books by Le Guin. It was $60, so I regretfully said no. But I couldn't get it out of my mind. So I did something blasphemous. I ordered it from Amazon while I was sitting there in Barnes and Noble, because on Amazon it was only $38 including tax. (Free shipping, I have Prime.) So that comes tomorrow.
Anyway, we sat in the coffee shop and ze read my zine story which I printed last night. Ze likes it, but couldn't think of a title either. I need a title!
I bought the first book I was looking at and reading, it was pretty cheap. Then when Barnes and Noble closed we went to Buffalo Wild Wings and had dinner. I called Middle Brother from there. He went on a hike yesterday and saw a waterfall so that made him happy.
I called Oldest Brother for the third time when we left, and I called the Kid but she didn't pick up. She texted during the day though so I know she's OK.
They brought me home, and I fed the pets, then I Skyped the FWiB.
And now I'm going to go to bed.
Gratitude List:
1. The FWiB.
2. Success with the birthday present.
3. Ordered the Earthsea book.
4. Nice day.
5. Got our seats on the plane selected for our trip to Amsterdam.
6. Excellent day.
