Back from Vermont
Nov. 26th, 2023 10:19 pmThe trip was lovely, as every year. Got up Friday a little late, but still made it to Penn Station via the 7 and E trains well in time. The trip to Albany was relaxing, the only ripple was some anxiety about making the transfer to the Vermont bus.
I did have a little trouble with that, but i did it eventually and the bus was almost, but not quite, as comfortable as the train.
Got to Rutland late, but the Kid and her boyfriend came and picked me up, and the bus station has an inside waiting room where I could even plug in my phone so that was OK.
Got to Steve and Amy's place and had a most wonderful evening eating, playing cards, and drinking lots of wine. Oddly enough we didn't stay up very late There was a full house, Steve and Amy, three of their boys, one girlfriend I think, Amy's brother, his girlfriend, his two daughters, and the three of us. And two friends who came but just for the evening and didn't sleep over.
The next morning I got up at a reasonable time and went up stairs and had coffee with whoever was up. Eventually Amy made breakfast and we had a good time.
Eventually Steve and Amy and the Kid and boyfriend and I went out to do some sightseeing/shopping. We went to the Vermont Country store, and a few other places, including a Christmas shop.
We ended up at a legit local general store for Amy to do some shopping for dinner, and then came back. She made chili for dinner, and it was delicious. We played more games, and drank a lot more, and listened to music.
last night a car hit a pole and caused a power outage, around 3AM. But the power was back on by midmorning so there was no real problem. We had breakfast, and eventually it was time to leave. I got a ride home with the Kid and boyfriend of course.
During the drive, I discovered I wasn't wearing my fitbit. It's lost somewhere, my only hope is that Steve and Amy find it. I emailed him.
Got back to the Kid's and took an Uber home from there. Called Oldest brother, who I had been calling about twice a day up while up there. I texted the Kid to let her know I was home, and SKyped the FWiB.
I ate my leftovers from Thanksgiving, which were very good cold, and called middle brother, who is fine and now looking forward to Christmas.
Then I lay down until pet feeding time. The pets, btw are both fine.
And now I'm doing this.
