It is over

I'm using mashfanficchick's laptop to update, staying over at zer place again.

This morning I got a call from my doctor's place that I needed a referal for the podiatrist, and they couldn't give me one because I hadn't been seen by them. So I had to cancel my podiatrist appointment for tomorrow and schedule a visit to my pcp on Monday. So that sucks.

I also got a call from Middle Brother's group home, he needs a colonoscopy which I will have to sign the consent form for. He will not be happy about the prep. But he is 65 now and needs one.

Anyway, then they took me in to the Bronx and to the library, where ze helped me clean out my desk and locker. It took a few hours and was labor intensive and I thank zer much. I turned in my keys and ID. So it is over, and I am retired. I got a card with $60 in it, which I appreciate. I feel very subdued and not at all sure what to feel or think.

Then we went to Shake Shack for a meal. It was very tasty.

And then they took me to my meeting, and that was good.

After that, back to Queens where mashfanficchick helped me bring a good chunk of my stuff into the apartment, and I packed for tomorrow, and fed the pets.

I Skyped th fWiB from my phone while mashfanficchick did some quick shopping.

Came back to zer apartment, ze got a phone call from Dani which ze put on speaker and we visited for awhile.

Now we are waiting for zer mother to find a parking spot and then have dessert.

Tomorrow, road trip to Beacon NY for the Grand Reopening in a new location of Five Pennies Creamery for ice cream!

Road Trip!

As I said, I spent last night at mashfanficchick's place. We got up this morning and I showered and had coffee.

Then we tried to go to zer comic book store for Free Comic Book Day, but the line was out the door, down the block, and around a corner. So ze didn't, and we left for Five Pennies Creamery in Beacon, New York.

We went up the Taconic, which is always nice, but I slept a lot of the way, don't know why I was so tired but I was. Then we made a brief stop at Fishkill Farms so ze could buy some stuff.

Finally we got to Beacon, which is an adorable little town, and went to the Hudson Valley Food Hall which is where Five Pennies is now. We ate a meal there, I had a bacon, egg, and cheese on fried bread, which was supposed to be British, and was very good. And a Nutella latte iced to drink. Then after we ate, we had ice cream. It was as good as ever, which is wonderful.

We hung out a long time talking, between ourselves and the owner, Danny. It was fun. Then by the time it was 6ish we headed back home.

Again, the drive was very scenic, and this time I didn't fall asleep. We got back to the city, and went to zer place where I packed up my stuff from the past few days, and they brought me home.

I Skyped the FWiB, and got a text from the Kid (I texted her earlier and she had responded to that, then she texted again.)

SO that was my first day of retirement, and it was fun. I am starting to feel a little shaky as the reality of never going back to work again sinks in. But I am mostly feeling good.
