Old friend, new friend
Jul. 28th, 2024 10:18 pmWent into Manhattan to meet up with Chris and his friend Saille. First I ate breakfast, showered, and washed my hair. Then I tool the 44 bus to Flushing, the 7 train from there to grand Central, and then the 4. We met at a place called Ole and Steen. I waited outside for quite awhile first cause I didn't realize they were already inside. But we got it straightened out eventually, and had a very nice time.
Chris gave each of us a book. Mine was The House on the Cerulean Sea, which I have been meaning to read for some time, so that was nice. He also paid for a glass of iced coffee and a pastry. Yummy! The Kid called me while I was with them, which was nice.
We stayed talking for quite a few hours but finally broke up, but we said we want to do it again.
Then, on a less cheerful note, I took the train back to Flushing and the bus to the hospital to see Oldest Brother. Mentally he was as good as he was in the nursing home, which is good. But he's been refusing to let the doctor examine him or take blood. It's very concerning. And of course I forgot to ask the doctor about the CT scan. I was there for an hour and a half.
Amy texted while I was on the way, she and Steve are with Betsy and Pieter, and were thinking of Oldest Brother. So that was nice.
The FWiB and I were having email technical difficulties all day, so finally I just said call me and he did. That was when i was waiting for the bus home.
I got in and I Skyped him and we had a nice talk. The e-mail seems to be working OK now too.
I called middle Brother, he saw a movie the other night.
I called
mashfanficchick and hopefully we'll go out tomorrow. Been a week at this point!
Had dinner, fed the pets, and now going to go read. Finish up Have his Carcass (which I started last night) and then read the House on the Cerulean Sea.
Gratitude List:
1. The FWiB.
2. Old friends.
3. New friend.
4. Oldest Brother seems OK.
5. Family.
6. Clean hair.
