Happy Labor Day
Sep. 2nd, 2024 10:34 pmGot up around 10ish, and had breakfast and coffee. I read some online, and then I took a shower and dressed. Then I packed my Le Guin book in a backpack with the first of the Peter Wimsey short story collections and my wallet.
I took the 20 bus to College Point, and went to get my face waxed at Pink Nails, but they were closed, I don't know if permanently or just for the day. But there is another, newer place right next door (which may explain why they are closed, sadly) that does waxing. So I went there. They charged a bit more, but did a more thorough job.
Then I went across the street to Supreme, and bought a Godfather sandwich, I got the roll rather than a hero, to cut down on calories and carbs. I also got a bottle of iced coffee.
Then I walked to McNeil park, the one we used to call the Big Park. It was longer than I remembered, but a very nice walk. I saw a house that has chickens and sells eggs, and there was a rooster crowing. I wonder what the neighbors think of it, I know that my parents neighbors were pretty incensed when they had Poppycock the rooster.
Anyway, I got to the park and it was lovely. Just a perfect day. I walked through the park to the hill by the playground and sat under the tree there and ate my lunch. And I got a vanilla cone with chocolate sprinkles from Mr. Softee. which I shouldn't have done, but, oh well.
I walked around the park, there was a birthday party in the playground, and a baby shower on the area where the 9/11 Memorial Grove is.
I sat on a bench near the water and watched the boats, then I moved to a shadier bench and read most of the last bit of City of Illusions.
Finally at 5:30 I walked to the 25 bus stop, which they have now put benches at, and came home.
Got here and finished reading City of Illusions. Then I got online and caught up on stuff. AO3 is having some kind of issue.
I Skyped the FWiB, for not quite an hour and a half, and then did my daily little bit of cleaning. I did a little bit in the kitchen.
Then I went to the bedroom and started Lord Peter Views the Body. So far I remembered several of the stories, but one I didn't remember at all, so that was nice.
Then it was pet feeding time, and time to do this so here I am. I called the Kid but she didn't pick up.
Gratitude List:
1. The FWiB.
2. The big park.
3. Waxed face.
4. Good books.
5. City rooster.
6. The unions that made Labor Day.
