Not watching the debate
Sep. 10th, 2024 10:26 pmI turned it on briefly, got an earful of Trump, and couldn't stand it and turned it off.
What I did do today was the Queens Botanical Garden. I got up around 11, ate breakfast and had coffee, and showered and washed my hair. Then I put my wallet in a backpack, and took off.
I got the bus fairly quickly, and got a seat. It's a pretty short ride on the 44 to the Gardens. I got there around 2, and stayed til around 5. I saw three of the little Italian Wall Lizards that live there. They are technically an invasive species, but I don't think they're harming anything, and they are so gosh darn CUTE!
I also saw someone's pet white cat, probably from a house across the street from the Gardens. Lots of squirrels, and lots of birds, mostly mourning doves. I bought a tee shirt, and, just as a treat, an chocolate ship ice cream sandwich. There weren't too many flowers in bloom, sadly, I should have gone in the spring or earlier summer, but there were some. I found wild strawberries and ate a few.
When I got home I did a little cleaning, sweeping part of the kitchen floor and putting things away.
Then at 7 I Skyped the FWiB. All is well, we talked til 8 when I had my Al-anon meeting by Zoom. It could have been better, but it was OK. S wasn't there.
After that I had dinner. Then I tidied up the TV table and that's when I turned on the debate for a few seconds. UGH.
So I went to the bedroom and played solitaire til pet feeding time. Now waiting for the Kid to text me. We texted earlier today, have to text now to make plans for tomorrow. She was watching the debate, she's probably watching a wrap-up report now.
I got bad news from Lynn in Rochester. He went to his oncologist today, and was told he's stage 4, no more surgery possible. Terminal, and he has maybe 2 years with aggressive treatment. Maybe 3 to 5 if he's lucky. So I'm depressed about that. I emailed Chris to tell him.
So that's what's going on today.
Gratitude List:
1. The FWIB got a good medical report today.
2. The Queens Botanical Gardens.
3. Italian Wall Lizards.
4. My meetings and the people there.
5. Got someone giving me very nice reviews on AO3.
6. The Kid.
