Botanical Gardens
Nov. 24th, 2024 10:29 pmI got up at 9, had breakfast and coffee, and got showered and dressed. The Kid texted me that she would be there between 11:30 and 12, soo at 11:45 I went outside and waited.
They got there around 12ish, and we headed to the NY Botanical gardens in the Bronx for the train show.
Our entry was for 12:45 and we got there a little early, so we got beverages first. I got some lovely hot chocolate with peppermint schnapps. We made our way to the trains, and then went in.
It was delightful. I took many pictures. They had miniature buildings for the trains to go around, all famous places in and around the city, and the buildings were all made of natural materials, leaves, bark, seeds and so on. They were really amazing. And since it was in the green houses, the plants were spectacular too. After the trains we went through the rain forest greenhouse too.
Then after that we took a walk around some of the gardens. It's amazing how much is still in bloom and green. Though the autumn leaves were lovely too.
We went to the main restaurant, and had a late lunch/early dinner. The Kid and I had a mushroom pasta dish, that was delicious, made with a red wine sauce. Her boyfriend had a burger. They had wine, I had elderberry soda. For dessert I had a poached pear in red wine, with gelato.
After that we went to the gift shop with was delightful, and I got a little red train engine Christmas ornament as a souvenir.
They brought me home, and I lay down in bed and dozed for about an hour and a half. Then I woke up and called the hospital ICU to see how Oldest Brother was doing. The news was good, though he's still on the ventilator, they are hoping to get him off tomorrow. So we shall see.

mashfanficchick called, we'll see about getting together tomorrow.
Then it was time to call Middle Brother, he was at a pre-Thanksgiving party on Friday, and had fun. I told him we'd see if we could visit Oldest Brother on Thanksgiving in the hospital or not. It depends on if he's still in ICU.
After that I puttered online, then went in the bedroom and played solitaire til pet feeding time. I fed the pets and had a bit of food myself. and now here I am.
