Oncologist visit
May. 27th, 2026 10:27 pmI got up at 9:30 and ate breakfast and had coffee, and showered and dressed. I made it out of the apartment by just a few minutes after 11:00.
Took the 44 bus to Jamaica, and got the LIRR to Bethpage. I had to wait for 20 minutes for the train though, which made me run late. I got an Uber pretty quickly at Bethpage, though, and made it to my appointment only 11 minutes late.
They have a new check in procedure, you scan a QR code on your phone. I don't like it.
There was a mixup, too, there was another woman there with my first name, and briefly I got mixed up with her. But they straightened it out, and I got my blood taken and saw Dr. Kalra.
The news is good, my bloods are fine, and she wants to have a test that will determine if I need to keep coming back, and taking the medicine. In the meantime I come back in four months.
I got email and texts from the CPAP company. I'll call them tomorrow.
I took an Uber back to the train station, and waited 15 minutes for the next train. A freight train passed while I was waiting, that was somewhat interesting.
Now I have something to confess. Yesterday my paranoia or OCD or something kicked in and I was convinced that I had forgotten to lock
mashfanficchick's door on Tuesday. No matter how implausible that was... I had the keys in my hand when I closed the door, and Mandy would have said something if I hadn't locked it. But logic had nothing to do with it. I knew I had locked it, but I couldn't feel like I had.
So today instead of coming straight home, I took the E train from Jamaica to
mashfanficchick's. Of course when I checked the door it was firmly locked, I knew it would be, but it was a big relief anyway.
Then as a reward for checking it, I went to the Japanese restaurant we got to, and had sushi for lunch. I also had a Japanese soft drink, in melon flavor. Delicious. Then I took the 46 bus to the 20 and came home.
I lay down and tried unsuccessfully to nap for an hour when I got in. Then I got up at 6:30 and got the computer ready to Team the FWiB.
We talked til 8:00 when I got off to play in my D&D game. This week almost everyone was there. We killed more zombies, one of our party got turned into a giant frog, and we have been bamboozled into helping two Medusas get their kidnapped sister back. Great fun!
We played until almost 10:00, then I fed the pets and started here.
Oh, and I exchanged some messages with John Ivon today, too. Always good to hear from him.
Gratitude List:
1. The FWiB.
2. Good oncologist report.
3. Heard from the CPAP company.
4. Nice weather though somewhat hot.
5. Sushi!
6. My gaming group.
